Employee owned hydrocarbon accounting company Accord Energy Solutions were proud sponsors of the 2015 Aberdeen City Open curling championships, held at Curl Aberdeen last weekend.

The annual three day event began following the success of the European Curling Championships which were staged in Aberdeen in 2009.  The competition is now part of the Scottish Curling Tour and attracts teams from around the world.

Eighteen teams lined up to contest the trophy, with recently crowned Scottish Junior champions Team Mouat and Team Aitken joining senior teams from the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour, representation from Curl Aberdeen and rinks from around Scotland and beyond.

After three days of fierce competition the teams were whittled down to just two, Team Edwards and Team Mouat, who contested the Sunday afternoon eight-end final.  Edwards got off to a great start, leading 3-0 after two ends, but Mouat hit back instantly and equalled the score.  The teams were evenly matched throughout, trading ends and scores, then tied at 7-7 after the penultimate end.  With final stone in the last end Team Edwards had the advantage.  However Team Mouat made things difficult, requiring a perfect final stone draw to the button for skip David Edwards to seal the championship (and vital points which secured the title of Goldline Scottish Curling Tour 2014/15 champions).  A winning weekend for Aberdeen based Team Edwards!

Accord Energy Solutions were delighted to sponsor such a terrific event and extend their thanks to the Aberdeen City Open organising committee and Curl Aberdeen staff and volunteers for making a great success of the championships.
